Tonga Family Health Association

Within Tonga's well-developed healthcare system and infrastructure, reproductive health (RH) services are made up of a well-defined clinical / curative component and a public health / preventative component. The government of Tonga acknowledges the crucial role played by the Tonga Family Health Association (TFHA) in the Reproductive Health Programme for the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), in particular the health-related MDGs 4, 5, and 6. TFHA supplies family planning (FP), maternal and child health (MCH) support, fertility and counselling assistance through 20 service points which include two permanent clinics and 15 community-based distributors (CBDs).

Tuvalu Family Health Association

As the Pacific Island’s leading non-governmental organization (NGO) promoting and providing sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services, the Tuvalu Family Health Association (TuFHA) serves a population of 10,000 through one permanent clinic and five community-based distributors/community-based services (CBDs/CBSs). TuFHA is the only non-governmental organisation that advocates for and provides clinical services counselling in the area of sexual reproductive health and rights (SRHR) in Tuvalu. They only have one static clinic in the capital of Funafuti. The TuFHA network believes that no one should be left behind and ensures to reach all Tuvaluans, providing SRHR information and services through the outer islands outreach programs, monthly mobile clinics and activities. Moreover, TuFHA seeks to serve the vulnerable and often neglected groups in the society (underserved communities, people living with disabilities) and to provide safe spaces for these groups. Furthermore, in order to increase its reach, TuFHA collaborates and works together with stakeholders in the Ministry of Health, Gender Social Welfare department and other NGOs in the country. Central to the organisation’s work is the dissemination of SRH information to specific vulnerable and underserved communities including people living with disabilities in the childbearing age group, maritime workers and people in the correctional facilities. In addition, TUFHA has a strong network with faith-based organizations and government agencies.

Vanuatu Family Health Association

As Vanuatu's pioneering sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) organisation, VFHA is a trusted provider of SRHR services and commodities to the nation of 320,154 population (2021). It works closely with the Ministry of Health (MOH) to provide clinical SRH services in Port Vila & Fres Wota (Efate), Lakatoro (Santo) and remotely in Tanna. VFHA has a strong network and linkage to political and religious leaders as well as youth peer educators who support the implementation of SRH educational campaigns targeting youth and the broader community.  Sixty-three per cent of the population are youths and VFHA responds to the youth needs, especially on sexuality education and sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services. Vanuatu has high static fertility and high teenage fertility rates, rising rates of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and low rates of contraceptive prevalence. About 76 per cent of the population lives in rural areas, making access to reproductive health services difficult and expensive. Cultural barriers add to the difficulty of accessing services and hinder women & girls, LGBTIQ persons, persons living with a disability and stigmatize people living with HIV/AIDS from accessing the same. VFHA believes in adequate and accessible healthcare for all and continues to advocate and provide services to the people regardless of age, gender, sexual orientation, belief and disability. We refrain from profiling clients with harmful stereotype. Instead, we serve all clients with respect of their bodily autonomy and client-friendly clinical health support. The Association is also the leading NGO on the provision of SRHR services during the Post Cyclone Winston Response which has devastated the lives of many people in the Republic of Vanuatu. The Association had a cornerstone impact in the lives of many especially during the Cyclone Winston Response, where lives were touched by our VFHA team trailing through rural and remote areas on the island of Santo for service provision.  The Association believes in making a difference, even more - a positive impact on the lives of the people we served, and it is established for this sole purpose and mission.

Vietnam Family Planning Association

The Vietnam Family Planning Association (VINAFPA) complements and supplements the Vietnamese government’s family planning programme, by providing direct services and information, education and communication (IEC) programmes. Over recent years, the country has experienced falling levels of fertility and reduced maternal and child mortality. VINAFPA has played a vital role in delivering these improvements. The organization runs over 1,350 distinct service points, including: 19 permanent clinics, 21 mobile facilities and a ground force of over 1,200 community-based distributors (CBDs). These CBDs are VINAFPA-trained individuals, living in a particular locality, who distribute supplies and offer advice and information. The intensity and impact of their work is borne out by the numbers. Currently, the unmet need for contraception rate runs at 5%, but VINAFPA is working hard to improve this.
